How to turn a video note into text
A video note is the same voice message with a face, and it has the same problem: you cannot watch it in a meeting or on the metro. Forward the video note to Molnia and a couple of seconds later the text arrives with the key point on top. Nothing to download, nothing to convert.
How it works
Forward the video note to the bot in a DM, or reply to it in a group. Molnia pulls out the audio track, transcribes it and sends back the text: the first line is what the video note was recorded for, then the topics as separate paragraphs. In groups, video notes are handled automatically, with no commands.
What else counts as a video note
Besides video notes themselves, Molnia takes voice messages, audio files, video files and all of those forwarded — from another chat, a channel or another person. One recording, up to three hours. There is no need to save the video note and feed it to a converter: forwarding it inside Telegram is the entire process.
Does the built-in transcription handle video notes?
It does, but behind a Premium subscription, and on a free account you get a couple of transcriptions a week. Underneath every reply there's a full-text button that opens the word-for-word transcript. If you always want the verbatim text, /mode changes the default so you don't have to switch every time.
How many video notes fit in the free limit
In DMs you get 20 minutes of recording a month for free, and a video note is rarely longer than a minute — that covers an ordinary month of messages. A group chat has its own 100 minutes a month, shared by everyone. Beyond that it's a subscription: 1,000 minutes for $5. What counts is the length of the recording, not the processing time; /status shows what is left.
